Evaluate an ABA Training Provider Before Booking

Check audience fit, instructor information, credit claims, access and follow-up before choosing professional education.

ABA professionals and clinic leaders may purchase workshops, courses or team training for different reasons. Before booking, define the learning need and review what the provider actually offers. A polished event page does not explain whether the content fits your role or purpose.

Use this guide to organize the purchase questions. Current certification and credit requirements should be checked through official sources relevant to the participant.

Name the learning purpose

Write the question or skill the event is intended to address. A software orientation, professional topic workshop and staff communication session have different purposes. Identify the intended participants and any prerequisite knowledge.

Ask the provider how the event addresses that purpose. A broad title may cover several topics while giving little time to the specific issue your team needs to understand.

Review instructor and content information

Look for accurate instructor biographies, qualifications and the course outline. Ask which materials or demonstrations are included. Identify whether the content is introductory, advanced or designed for a particular professional audience.

Do not infer expertise from the number of social followers or an attractive cover image. Relevant qualifications, transparent authorship and a clear description of the material are more useful starting points.

Check any credit claim

The BACB ACE provider information explains its authorized continuing education program. Use the official registry linked there when evaluating a provider's authorization claim.

The BACB states that ACE authorization does not mean the Board endorses or approves individual event content. Confirm the current credit or professional-development conditions for the event and your role. A course mentioning ABA is not automatically a qualifying event.

Confirm format and access

Ask whether the event is live, recorded or a combination. Confirm the actual date, time zone, access period and technology requirements. Check how questions can be raised and whether participants receive materials afterward.

For a team booking, clarify whether the purchase covers individual accounts or a defined group arrangement. Do not assume that buying one access link permits sharing the recording with the whole clinic.

Review terms and support

Confirm the provider's cancellation, rescheduling and technical support process. Ask what happens if the participant cannot access the event or the advertised instructor changes. Review the current terms before committing time or money.

Keep the purchase record and event description. If a detail affects your decision, ask for clarification rather than relying on an informal comment in a social thread.

Use a booking worksheet

  • Learning purpose and intended participants.
  • Outline and instructor information.
  • Any credit claim and official verification route.
  • Format, date, time zone and access period.
  • Materials and permitted sharing.
  • Support, cancellation and follow-up details.

The worksheet creates a consistent comparison across actual options. Avoid turning subjective impressions into a claim that one provider is universally the best.

Plan the follow-up use

Ask participants how the event addressed the original question and what further guidance they need through their professional process. Keep clinical or professional implementation decisions with the responsible people. A training purchase alone does not establish that a new practice should be adopted.

If your team produces its own educational presentation, our workshop slide guide can support communication design. Content expertise, credit representation and visual presentation need their own review.

Choose education by purpose, audience fit and verified details. Those questions give you a more useful basis for booking than the event's promotional appearance alone.
